Audio
In this piece, I worked with a single field recording of the water pipe in the bathroom of my flat. At times, it feels as if my flat is haunted. The water pipes produce all kinds of unexpected noises at random moments. One day, I noticed particularly rhythmically intriguing sounds coming from the bathroom pipe. Equipped with my Zoom hand recorder, I captured the splashing water resonating against the metal walls of the pipe.
Rather than using multiple sound sources, I chose to focus entirely on this one recording, exploring its textures and sonic possibilities. Using Ableton, I manipulated the sample through audio effects, Simpler, and Sampler, extracting specific sounds and reshaping them into rhythmic variations by slicing the sample into single layers lasting milliseconds and putting a randomised arpeggiator over it. By layering these processed elements across different audio tracks, I constructed a cohesive sound piece.
